DIY Cleaning Spray & Household/Vehicle Wipes

It is often said that it is a compilation of many safe acts that create reliable safety for everyone. Any one act of safety contributes to the overall health and safety of your family and community. The beauty of the following recipes are that they not only support our bodies ability to fight off bacteria and virus. They are whole house and vehicle (your mini-house) disinfectant and deep cleaning. Because they are natural, they are far safer and less harsh than many chemical laden soaps, sprays, and cleansers out there.

Multi-Use Cleaner Spray

Purchase Flairosol 12 oz bottles on Amazon or obtain glass bottles from your local essential oil distributer/retailer.

If you want to add a sledgehammer effect to those germs and viruses, add 5 drops of each of these as well:

Fill the rest of the bottle with distilled water.  To use, simply shake well then spray. The mist is very fine so I allow it to naturally fall through the air of any room. The smell is exhilarating and boosts confidence in a cleaner space. For surfaces such as counters, toilets, sinks, steering wheels, seats/chairs, beds, delivered boxes, doorknobs, etc., spray directly onto the surface and allow to air dry. Air drying allows it to stay on the viruses/germs long enough to kill them…making your surface safe to the touch. To use on a keypad lock, spray mixture into a cloth or paper towel, then wipe over keys. Allow to dry. You can also use this mixture on your face mask of choice. Simply spray the side that will be facing outward, let dry, then wear.

Have you ever gotten in your vehicle and sense that neither your hands nor your steering wheel is very clean. Of course, that’s not the only instance in which to use cleansing wipes, but that does seem to be the place I think of it the most. After all, at home I can simply wash my hands.

Make-Your-Own-Wipes Two Ways

With coffee filters:

  • ½ capful of Thieves Household Cleaner

  • 1 c distilled water

  • 5-10 drops of essential oil

Mix well in a medium sized bowl. Add coffee filters till all the liquid is absorbed. Fold wet wipes into a reusable wipe bag or temporarily in a plastic baggie for wipes on the go.

With paper towels:

  • 15-20 drops of essential oil

  • 1 capful of Thieves Household cleaner

  • 2 c of distilled water

Get a roll of your choice of paper towels, and using a serrated knife, cut it in half to make 2 rolls. Remove the center cardboard from the rolls. Put your paper towels in a glass, steel, or High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) container. Combine and mix ingredients and then pour over your paper towels. To use, simply pull towels out from the center of your roll.

It is my hope to have shared information and solutions that allow you to feel confident and safe in your home, in your vehicle, or out on grocery or medicine runs. Remember, every act of safety creates a barrier. From my family to yours: be careful, stay safe, and be well.
